ELOKON Arrives in Mexico
On March 12, 2026, ELOKON announced its expansion into the Mexican logistics market. This news heralded ELOKON's first ever appearance at the Logistics World Summit & Expo in Mexico City.
Early entry into regions with a growing footprint in the manufacturing and logistics sectors is vital for ELOKON's growth.
Since 2022, major manufacturers from around the world, like LEGO, have sped up their investments in Mexico. Known as "nearshoring", this practice unlocks several advantages. Companies from around the world want their production closer to the U.S. market, particularly in the Baja and Monterrey regions.
These regions are attractive because they let companies nearshore production in proven industrial corridors that are already tightly meshed with North American supply chains.
Benefits from proximity to the U.S. include:
- Shorter logistics routes
- Reduced costs
- Reduced transit time
- Reduced disruption risk
- Tighter North American supply-chain integration
- Improved coordination
Why Companies are Investing in the Baja and Monterrey Regions
- Baja California is ideal because it sits directly next to the U.S. market which helps manufacturers move goods faster and coordinate more easily across the border. It also provides access to established clusters in sectors like electronics, aerospace, and medical devices.
- Monterrey offers large-scale industrial parks, strong infrastructure, engineering talent, and a deep supplier network that supports complex manufacturing and expansion.
The rapid growth in these regions has created unique operational challenges. Roughly 40% of these new facilities operate complex, "mixed" fleets. A mix of forklifts, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). This is according to the 2026 Logistics World State of Industry Report.
Data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) indicates this accelerated pace has contributed to a 15-20% rise in industrial “near-miss” incidents over the last 18 months (~1 .5 years). This further highlights an urgent need for smarter safety interventions to help reduce risk and improve efficiency.
All these factors crystalized the Logistics World Summit & Expo as an ideal showcase for ELOKON to demonstrate its award-winning safety technologies, and gain visibility and market share in this blossoming region.
Representing ELOKON at this landmark event was, Humberto Montoya - Customer Support Manager, Alex Johns - Vice President, and Alex Glasmacher - CEO.
“Our goal is to provide managers with the visibility they need to protect their workforce while maximizing productivity. ELOKON’s advanced telematics are designed to integrate seamlessly into any facility, whether they are managing brand-new autonomous fleets or optimizing existing manual equipment.” - Alex Glasmacher - CEO, ELOKON.
Fleet Safety & Forklift Operation Technologies Featured at Logistics World included:
- ELOshield: A lift truck proximity detection system. ELOshield uses ultra-wideband (UWB) to help reduce accidents and prevent collisions. It warns forklift drivers when pedestrians, objects, or vehicles are too close. It also warns pedestrians with audible, visual, and haptic alerts.
- ELOfleet: A simple, app-centric, cost-effective fleet management solution (forklift telematics) for material handling equipment. It integrates smartphone capabilities into lift trucks to streamline access control, safety checklists, impact monitoring, and fleet performance data delivered in real time.
- ELOfusion: A single, integrated environmental warning and fleet management system (proximity detection & warning + telematics). Designed to improve safety and productivity for forklift fleets in warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities.
- ELOvision: An artificial intelligence (AI)-based environmental warning system leveraging a camera to provide an intelligent alternative to the UWB-based ELOshield.
In addition to the product demonstrations, the ELOKON team highlighted the revolutionary impact of sensor data fusion technology on the material handling industry.
They dug into the importance of forklift safety and effective fleet management, focusing on how the integration of advanced sensor technologies helps merge these solutions into a single product.
"We are witnessing a fundamental shift in intralogistics, where sensor data fusion is moving the industry away from reactive impact recording toward proactive collision avoidance," Glasmacher added.
"By integrating infrastructure-free Real-Time Locating Systems (RTLS) and digital twins with advanced telematics, we are preventing accidents, not just recording them. This synergy of proximity detection and fleet intelligence is what allows today’s mixed-fleet environments to remain both safe and highly productive."
ELOKON is thrilled to be entering the Mexican logistics arena at this pivotal time. We’re confident that the operational challenges facing companies investing in this region present vast opportunities for ELOKON to extend its already global reach and make a real impact on material handling safety, efficiency and automation in the years to come.
